Carbine Basics – 2 Night Course – 6/7 & 6/9

THIS IS A TWO DAY COURSE WITH CLASSES ON JUNE 7 AND JUNE 9 FROM 6PM – 8PM EACH NIGHT

Allow the instructors at XCAL to guide you from the origins of the carbine and AR platform to live-fire exercises from various shooting positions. Carbine basics will take the beginner from basic nomenclature and field stripping through to basic marksmanship and advanced shooting positions.

This step-by-step approach allows each student ample time, in a relaxed environment to ask questions and develop a deeper understanding of basic carbine operation and the fundamentals of marksmanship. Students will be able to browse and experience upgrade options available for their firearm or work with an instructor to identify key features for a new purchase.

Graduates of Carbine Basics will have taken their first step into the world of carbine and rifle shooting and will be ready to move on to more advanced classes.

VA Law Requirements: US Citizen with unexpired Government ID (Real ID or Valid US Passport) or Naturalized citizens with DHS, INS ID, or Permanent US Resident with Valid Government Photo ID.

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Gear Required: Carbine or rifle with magazine
  • Ammunition Required: 200rds Ball or Frangible NO Green Tip, Tracer or Incendiary
  • Recommended Gear: Pen and paper
  • Dress: Closed-toed shoes, clothes that you can lay down in.

Pistol Basics – 6/11

The XCAL Pistol Basics class is the class to attend if you are new to handguns. It was designed for those students who wish to gain a strong foundation in handgun operation, safety, and shooting fundamentals. It is applicable to both new and long-time shooters who have not received prior handgun training or who require a refresher. This course provides a good foundation for what you will need to know about how to safely handle and shoot both semi-automatic pistols and revolvers.

In this class, we will cover; Safety, Nomenclature, Loading/Unloading, Common Malfunctions, Stance, Grip, and Sights. There will also be a 50-round course of fire to familiarize students and for Instructors to evaluate them.

Class sizes are small to ensure the student is learning the proper techniques.

VA Law Requirements: US Citizen with unexpired Government ID (Real ID or Valid US Passport) or Naturalized citizens with DHS, INS ID, or Permanent US Resident with Valid Government Photo ID.

VA Concealed Handgun Permit – 6/12

This course not only meets but exceeds the requirements for the VA Concealed Carry Application. When you are ready to start carrying concealed for your own protection and the protection of your family, the XCAL VA Concealed Carry course is the one that you should take. Our knowledgeable instructors cover the VA laws that you should be familiar with, handgun safety, home storage and security of your firearms, as well as some basics regarding how, where, and who is allowed to carry.

We will also go over some handgun fundamentals to make sure that you are comfortable in your decision to carry concealed in the State of Virginia. There will be a 50-round practical course of fire and afterward students can receive some remedial training if needed.
