Topher started his firearms journey as a hobby almost 25 years ago. This hobby turned passion led to becoming a Range Safety Officer, working at various Loudoun County shooting facilities – driving the desire to help others improve their skills, which led to becoming an instructor.

As a civilian instructor for over 15 years, he’s worked with many various local agencies to assist with training and recertifications. He’s also the Ranges Director (Archery, Shotgun, Pistol and Rifle) for Loudoun County Chapter of the  Izaak Walton League of America, focusing on hunter safety, firearms safety, and wildlife conservation.

His primary focus at XCAL are the Basics classes, helping new shooters enter the shooting world safely, and establishing the proper foundations and fundamentals, as well as the Concealed Carry courses that are offered, assisting those shooters wanting to exercise their self-defense rights.

Topher is an NRA Certified Instructor for Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Reloading, and a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor.
