ABOUT THIS COURSE
XCAL’s Virginia Concealed Carry course goes beyond the basics. This course meets and exceeds the requirements for the Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) Application. Our experienced instructors guide students through key topics like gun safety and state laws for concealed carry so they have all the information needed to be responsible and confident with their firearm. There is also hands-on time on the range, so that the students can demonstrate shooting and operation in a secure, controlled environment.
Students will be able to carry with confidence and peace of mind after taking this course.
There will be a 50-round practical course of fire emphasizing additional training opportunities.

Firearm rentals are available at the Range Check-in Counter. Ammunition and protective gear are available in the XCAL Store.
Virginia law requires a participant to be either a U.S. Citizen with a valid government photo ID (Driver’s License, Real ID or U.S. Passport); a naturalized citizen with a valid government photo ID; or a Permanent U.S. Resident with a valid government photo ID.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- Prerequisite: A basic understanding of how to handle, and fire, a handgun, safely. If you’ve never fired a handgun before, we recommend you take our Pistol Basics course first.
- Gear Required:
- Pistol with at least one magazine; rentals available
- Eye protection; rentals available
- Hearing protection; rentals available
- Ammunition Required: 50 rounds FMJ or Frangible
- Recommended Gear: Pen and paper
- Dress: Closed-toe shoes (no heels) and comfortable, range-appropriate clothing.
