We’ve put together some commonly asked questions to give you more information about XCAL, our shooting sports, our fitness center and other amenities.

Where are you located?
XCAL is conveniently located at 44950 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn, VA 20147 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn near One Loudoun.
What are your hours?
XCAL Shooting Sports will be open:
Monday-Thursday: 9:00am – 10:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 11:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 11:00pm
Sunday: 8:00am – 8:00pm
XCAL Fitness will be open:
Monday – Saturday: 5:00am -11:00pm
Sunday: 6:00am -9:00pm
XCAL Cafe will be open:
Monday – Saturday: 6:00am – 10:00pm
Sunday: 7:00am – 8:00pm
What can I do at XCAL?
Shoot, work out, eat, shop, relax! We have an all-inclusive facility that features modern shooting ranges, a fully equipped fitness center with Dojo, luxurious spa, convenient café and retail store with both firearm- and fitness-related products.
Does XCAL have a restaurant?
Yes, Midway Café is located on the first floor of our 95,000-square-foot facility. The café provides American Bistro-style food for eat-in and take-out; coffee and espresso bar; juice bar; healthy and light options in support of health and fitness goals. The café also provides food service for the second-floor Founders Club and supports catering for special events and parties.
Is the restaurant open to the public?
Yes, Midway Café is open to all, regardless of membership status.
Can anyone shop at your store?
Yes, the store is open to the public.
PRICES AND MEMBERSHIP
Does XCAL offer memberships?
Yes! XCAL offers a range of memberships tailored to a variety of needs and interests. See the membership page for more details.
Do you have to be a member to use the shooting ranges or fitness club?
No, you don’t need to be a member. XCAL is open to the public with daily passes available for XCAL Fitness and hourly rates for XCAL Shooting Sports ranges. Membership will, however, afford greater value and provide access to additional services, amenities and privileges.
How much does it cost to use a shooting range?
For daily guests, the tactical and luxury ranges are $25/hour for the first shooter and $10/hour for each additional shooter. Private bays are $60/hour for the first shooter and $20 per additional shooter. Become a member for unlimited free-range time in our luxury range and tactical range.
How much does it cost to use the fitness center?
We have daily passes as well as membership options for our fitness center. See the Membership page for XCL fitness membership options. Daily passes to the fitness center are $25.00 or a week pass for $75.00.
FITNESS
Is XCAL Fitness a traditional gym?
Yes, and more! XCAL Fitness takes the traditional gym to the next level with its spacious fitness center, spa, challenging group classes, functional fitness training, dedicated cycling room and a multi-purpose Dojo. Upgraded locker rooms feature dry sauna.
What type of training will be available in the Dojo?
Our expert instructors will lead classes in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Where can I purchase fitness apparel?
Our onsite XCAL Store offers a wide range of fitness merchandise.
SHOOTING SPORTS
How do I schedule a range?
Members can make reservations up to 48 hours in advance on our website. You must be an XCAL member in order to make a lane reservation.
Do you have to schedule a range in advance? Or can I walk in?
No, walk ins are always welcome. If there is a wait, enjoy browsing in the XCAL retail spaces or grab something to eat at the Midway Cafe.
Do you have rental firearms?
Yes, XCAL has wide variety of short and long guns in our rental fleet.
Where can I purchase firearms, ammunition and other supplies?
XCAL Shooting Sports retail will carry a full range of firearms, ammunition, and popular accessories and apparel.
Do you have a gunsmith?
No. We are not accepting gunsmith work at this time.
Do you store personal firearms?
Yes. XCAL offers both short-term and long-term secure firearms storage.
FIREARM TRAINING
Do we offer private instruction?
Yes we do. All we need is a little information and we can get you on our schedule at your convenience. Please fill out the information form on our website or email us @ [email protected].
What is included in the cost of private instruction?
The cost cover a private lane, the instructor fee, gun rental, eye and ear protection rental and targets.
What is not included in the cost of private instruction?
Ammunition is the only variable charge.
How much does private instruction cost?
It varies slightly. Our lead instructors charge 100/hr for the first person, 50 for the second and 25 for each additional. Our Director of Training is 125/75/25 respectively.
Can we try out multiple firearms in a single session?
Depending on the lesson, it is indeed possible to try out a few different firearms.
Can we train pistol, rifle and shotgun in the same lesson?
We try to stick to a single platform during each lesson. There is some overlap with pistol and rifle in more advanced lessons.
I can’t seem to get into any of the group classes. Can we set up a private class?
Yes, if you can get a group of 10 people, we can set up a private class at your convenience.
What courses do you offer?
A complete listing of all our training courses can be found on our website under shooting sports and then shooting courses.
Do you have any competitions?
Yes, we run an Outlaw Steel event every other Monday.
What do I need to compete?
You will need a holster and magazine pouch and at least three magazines.
Can I use regular Ball ammunition?
Absolutely not, for the distances that we are shooting ONLY FRANGIBLE AMMUNITION IS ALLOWED DURING STEEL EVENTS.
How old do I have to be to take a course at XCAL?
It can vary from class to class, but maturity is the ultimate guide on age. We have had shooters in our adult classes as young as 13.
Do you have youth classes?
Yes, we run youth-only classes and events from time to time. Ages are usually 8 and up.
Can I bring my firearms for training?
Yes, we highly recommend doing so. All we ask is that they are unloaded and properly cased when they arrive.
Do you have gear to rent?
We have a limited selection of holsters and magazine pouches to rent, you will, however, need a sturdy belt.
How long are the training sessions?
They can vary, but we usually stick to an hour for 3 or less people and 1.5-2 hours for 4 or more.
Can we run steel in private training?
Yes and no, steel requires man power and time to set up and a full range. There is significant upcharge for steel training sessions.
Are all courses held at XCAL?
For the most part yes, but our Long Distance Marksmanship Retreat and our Night Vision Retreat are held at other venues that can support those disciplines.
Do you need to be a member for private Instruction?
No
Can you rent a firearm for group classes?
Yes

Do we teach cleaning and care?

Can we train you how to use your holster?

Is there anything I need to do for my first time at the range?
Yes, you must fill out the waiver, either at the range or online and watch a short safety video.
Do I need any ID?
Yes, you need a valid ID.
